Easy Broccoli Salad

4 cups fresh broccoli florets (cut into small pieces)
½ cup red onion, finely diced
½ cup dried cranberries (or raisins)
½ cup sunflower seeds (or chopped almonds, pecans)
½ cup bacon bits (or cooked, crumbled bacon)
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
For the Dressing:
¾ cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice)
2 tbsp honey (or sugar)
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
