The Delivery Driver Who Saved My Son…

Hiring Megan to care for our one-year-old son seemed like the best decision my husband Ryan and I had made. She was punctual, attentive, and constantly sent pictures of our son happily playing. Even our house was spotless when I returned from work. My son adored her, which made leaving him each morning much easier. Still, I occasionally noticed he seemed unusually sleepy when I came home.

There was also our delivery driver, Andre, who had been bringing packages for months. Every few weeks, he appeared to speak directly into our Ring camera, but the microphone had been broken. We could never hear him. One Thursday afternoon, everything changed. Andre delivered two packages, then suddenly stopped and stared toward our trash cans.

He hurried back to the porch, found a piece of cardboard, and wrote something with a marker. Then he held it directly toward the camera. Four words appeared: “CHECK YOUR TRASH CAN.” My stomach dropped. I immediately called Megan, who calmly told me our son had eaten lunch and was sleeping. Ryan and I rushed home.

Beneath the garbage, we found several medication bottles, including children’s cough medicine and an over-the-counter sleep aid. A pharmacy bag with Megan’s name was underneath them. Terrified, I called our pediatrician, who instructed us to check our son immediately and take him to the emergency room.
