We found Megan downstairs and our son unconscious in his crib. When I lifted him, his body felt frighteningly limp. Megan tried to convince us that taking him to the hospital was unnecessary, but we ignored her and rushed our son to emergency care.
Doctors ran tests and discovered that he had been exposed to a sedating medication. Police became involved, and Megan’s story eventually collapsed. She admitted giving him small amounts of medication to make him sleep whenever he resisted his naps, making childcare easier for herself.
Andre later explained that he had seen Megan carrying a bag toward the trash and noticed a medicine bottle fall out. He knew something was wrong and, remembering the broken Ring microphone, improvised the warning that ultimately saved our son.
Our son recovered, but the experience left emotional scars. We locked away every medication and became much more cautious about caregivers. A month later, Andre delivered another package. This time, our Ring microphone worked. He looked into the camera and asked, “I hope the little guy is doing okay.” Ryan answered, “He is. Because of you.” Andre smiled and walked away, forever remembered as the stranger who refused to stay silent.
