Base
1 large loaf bolillo or day-old French bread (sliced & toasted)
Piloncillo Syrup
400–500 g piloncillo (or 2–2½ cups brown sugar)
3–4 cups water
2 cinnamon sticks
3–4 cloves
Optional: 1 strip orange peel
Fillings & Toppings
1½–2 cups raisins
1–2 cups chopped nuts (walnuts or peanuts)
1–2 cups fruit (apple chunks, banana slices, or pineapple)
200–300 g cheese (queso fresco, panela, or mild melting cheese)
Optional family touches: coconut flakes, dates, prunes
